Re: LP8
Skeptical there's actually any audio out there. This fanbase starts WHIRRING back up as soon as there's a SNIFF of a leak. I think the vinyl listing may have been less than accidental, and then "leak rumors" start getting telephone gamed out, and now we're all abuzz about a new album waiting for some real press. Johan learned some lessons imo.
Re: LP8
i trust tms and this wouldn't be the first time tmv media was shared privately between a few people and kept quiet for the most partDrRodentia wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 9:52 pmIt's weird that TheMarbleShrine account seemed to confirm the leak is real, but there's nothing out there outside of very vague descriptions. Usually when something is out there, it doesn't take long for it to spread. Or for the people that actually have to actually talk about it in some detail.Andrewf wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 9:30 pm Well im banned from reddit for the 3rd time so might aswell post here. Dont really like discord as its mostly just a chat. So weird that not only did no one share the album, no one ever talks about how it sounds like? Hopefully we get a single soon but even then, april isnt that far away either

Yeah im very skeptical. As far as I can tell there are 2 people on Reddit claiming they have it, and they both kinda seem full of shit.
Its weird to me that the marble shrine said “its out there, uou can find it if you look” and as far as I can tell theres zero trace of it on any torrent trackers or soulseek.

Re: LP8
Seconded for shameless request
However, Soulseek is old itself. Very old. I didn't even know it was around anymore. It used to be the best thing for hard to find underground stuff. Perhaps it still is.

I'm listening to it right now. It's real.Kvltadelic666 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 1:50 amYeah im very skeptical. As far as I can tell there are 2 people on Reddit claiming they have it, and they both kinda seem full of shit.

i was so wrong heredjzap wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 5:26 pmI would love for it to be a big multi-part thing divided into 18 tracks but I think us prog lovers may need to adjust our expectations of TMV in 2025 when it comes to that haha
Can't remember the last proggy thing Omar-related. It seems like all of his most recent solo things have been more poppy as well.

Re: LP8
It sounds like self titled but dipped in a vat of lsd.
Re: LP8
It’s like they built off of the last album’s style with the old mindset. It’s experimental and ethereal. Kinda reminds me of the smoother 70s prog like camel or soft machine or moody blues but if they were Volta. Philo sounds good, whoever is on bass is killing it, the flow of the album is amazing, Cedric is perfect, and production is really cool. They cooked everyone.
Re: LP8
Keep getting kicked off the site for some reason on mobile. Man I genuinely am having a hard time processing this album. I don't feel strongly one way or the other there were some obvious highlights but I had a surreal moment during Voice In My Knives where I felt paranoid that it was like a really convincing AI generated Volta song that blended the vocal style of s/t and the latin percussion of Que Dios te Maldiga with the jamming of Frances and Amp. I think while the overall sound is fresh it wasn't necessarily breaking new ground in even the way I feel like self titled did if that makes sense. And without spoiling too much one of the major songs is a redone version of an Omar solo track. I need to sit with this.

Registering on an old-school forum, requesting links in PM and downloading from Mediafire is like an injection of 2000s straight into the brain. Strangely dreamlike, like the album in question.
Didn't like s\t very much, 'Que Dios...' version felt more direct and genuine. 'Lucro Sucio...' isn't too far off in terms of aesthetics (and Cedric still sounds somewhat like a drowsy cat high on catnip), but it's definitely weirder. Love both the latin influences and quirky old-school synths. At times it sounds like a mangled tape with a lost experimental soviet cartoon.
With all the seamless transitions it's tough to imagine listening to this on 2LP format but whatever.
